The nature of God in essence and attributes as according to “Lectures in Systematic Theology” are as follows: God is immaterial and not human, invisible, alive, a person, self-exists, is immense and is eternal in essence and His natural attributes are omnipresence, omnipotence, unchanging, holy, righteous and just, good, and true. I think this is the best description of God I have read that captures what God is about.
Everything I know about God is completely based on experience. So my opinion of what God is not different from this, but I don’t really think I grasp God and I don’t feel like an authority on God. I think though that I have just recently started to see who God is in comparison to who the devil is and that’s a whole other blog.
I think that God shows up when I need Him. I think God keeps me alive. I think the only reason I’ve made it past anything terrible is because God has an idea of where he wants me and it’s not where I am right now. That’s for sure. But humans fail. But from what I understand of God if He plans to use you for something you’re going to do it. I don’t really know what that is, but I have a feeling that once I finally get past these things that have been so hard for me God has ideas.
That’s a nice way to put it, but I have no idea. I know what I would like to happen, but I don’t know if that’s what those people or God have in mind. I know what I’ve been through and it’s been all I can see. I don’t think mentally I’m really ready to be an authority on God. However, here are a few verses about God’s essence and attributes:
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and in truth.John 4:24 NKJV
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name LORD (YHWH or Jehovah) I was not know to them.Exodus 6:3 NKJV
But who is able to build Him a temple, since heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him?2nd Chronicles 2:6 NKJV
Then Abraham…there called on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God.Genesis 21:33 NKJV
So you know, the Bible makes God a pretty big deal. So I’m no authority on this Being. But that is what I learned and that is in essence what I know about God. He is also three-in-one because He is God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit. I have only really tried talking to Jesus, the son, and haven’t really experienced God in fullness. He has mainly just kept me alive. I haven’t really tried enough. I have schizoaffective disorder and BPD it’s really hard to shut them emotions off, but I did the best I could to describe Him.
Do you think I covered it? Is there anything you would like to know? Let me know.
